Do you feel it–that anticipation of brighter days ahead, both figuratively and literally? Springtime in the Ohio Valley is upon us. In fact, the vernal equinox is Wednesday March 20, 2019, also known as the first day of spring! So what is the vernal equinox? It’s when the Northern and Southern hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight. For us, it’s the first day of spring. Beginning Wednesday, we will see daylight hours continue to lengthen until the summer solstice in June. If you want to get technical, spring arrives when the sun is directly in line with the equator which will be at 5:58 pm EST Wednesday. While all of that may be interesting, does it really matter? What matters is more sunshine and the start of more time outdoors, hopefully with the ones you love. As for us at Hancock County Savings Bank, we get to enjoy more sunshine beaming through our buildings which is always a welcomed sight!
