Staying Healthy

We all know that it’s the season of sickness. Everywhere you look people are sniffling and coughing. Germs are having a field day when groups of people come together. With that in mind, here are a few tips you can follow in order to fight off the bugs.

  1. Wash your hands! This may seem obvious, but remembering to wash your hands after any interaction with the public or heavily trafficked areas is the best place to begin when preventing illness. Gas pumps, grocery carts, money, door knobs at the office, these are all examples of items that are breeding grounds for germs.

  1. Going along with the above tip, wipe off the handle bar of your grocery cart before pushing it through the store. Most stores now provide a disinfectant station that has antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. Utilizing this area will definitely help you keep the bugs at bay.

  1. Try your best to keep your hands away from your eyes and mouth. Eating of course often requires the use of your hands near the mouth, so washing them before eating is another necessity, but if you can avoid rubbing your eyes or touching your face this will be a big factor in preventing disease.

  1. Take a multivitamin and eat healthy. Keeping up with your diet and monitoring what you eat has a tremendous effect on stopping illness. Avoiding lots of processed food and sugars will help you feel better, even if you aren’t sick. Staying hydrated with water is also vital.

  1. Stay active. Walking or simple workouts at the gym are also helpful. If possible, take your walk outside so that you can be exposed to Vitamin D from the sun.

  1. Get a good amount of sleep. This is easier said than done as it can definitely be a challenge to have full restful nights, especially if you have young children or irregular work hours, but sleeping is one of the best things for the body.

Following these tips are sure to give you a good start on fighting off any bug that might try to creep in.
