Did you know October is Rett Syndrome Awareness Month?
Rett Syndrome is a unique postnatal neurological disorder that is first recognized in infancy and seen almost always in girls and rarely seen in boys. It has been most often misdiagnosed as autism, cerebral palsy, or non-specific developmental delays. We here at Hancock County Savings Bank want to raise awareness not only for all children with the disorder, but especially because we have friends dealing with this neurological disorder in their child every day. Rett Syndrome knows no racial or ethnic boundaries and occurs world-wide in 1 of every 10,000 female births. We thank Rettsyndrome.org for their valuable information. Donations for awareness initiatives and research causes can be made at the Rett Syndrome website. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about something very close to our hearts.
