It is cold and flu season again and that means we must pay much closer attention to hand hygiene in order to protect ourselves from getting sick. Hancock County Savings Bank wants to do our part to help keep you Healthy so we have provided some helpful tips for proper hand washing.

  1. Wet hands with warm water

  2. Apply liquid soap, avoid bar soap

  3. Lather hands well, using a rubbing motion, clean back and front of hands and in between fingers

  4. Wash hands for 20 seconds (kids can sing ABC song once)

  5. Keep hands tilted downward so the water will run away from the fingers and not drip towards the elbow

  6. Dry with a disposal cloth if possible

  7. Use towel to turn off faucet

  8. Keep a moisturizer on hands to keep skin from cracking
