Celebrating Earth Day

April 22 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, which has been dedicated to showing appreciation for the world around us. Many celebrate the day by picking up litter, planting trees, or sprucing up areas of their community.

Considering this Earth Day will be different due to the coronavirus pandemic, much of the actions and awareness are being conducted virtually. A list of digital events can be found on the Earth Day official website, www.earthday.org, where individuals can register to participate. According to the site, the theme of Earth Day 2020 is climate change.

Hancock County Savings Bank is happy to have helped contribute to the beautification of our community by making a donation to a tree renovation project last fall. This update benefited the downtown landscape of East Liverpool, Ohio.

If you aren’t able to join any online events or get out to clean or plant, you can still take a moment to think about the world we live in. The planet earth is a simply gorgeous home. The beauty of trees and flowers, the magnificence of our oceans and the amazing intelligence of animals/insects are just a few things to be grateful for this Earth Day and every day.
