The Hancock County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation was established in 1999 with the mission of promoting charitable and educational organizations and activities. Funding for the Foundation is derived primarily from contributions by Hancock County Savings Bank as part of our mission, which includes a commitment to supporting the dedicated work of community organizations. In the seven years that the Foundation has been in existence, a total of $288,972 has been donated to over 45 different local service and support organizations.
The Foundation generally provides funding in areas such as seed money for startup costs of new and innovative programs, human services or educational programs, capital and equipment needs, matching grants, and one-time grants for programs not requiring refunding. Grant applications must be submitted by September 30 of each year, and awards are announced in December.

Hancock County Savings Bank maintains successful Partnerships in Education with Oak Glen Middle School and Broadview Elementary School, both of which are member schools of the Hancock County School System.
Partnership activities involve students and staff members of both schools and a majority of bank employees. Our Partnership objectives include the following:
To implement projects that provide opportunities for our employees to work with the students, the teachers, and the principals in ways that are beneficial for the school.
Activities such as award breakfasts, "Bank-at-School" presentations, our "Greetings Committees," and tutoring programs contribute directly to the recognition of both the needs of the school and the students and the importance of community support for our schools.
To provide students and teachers with a picture of the "real world of work" and an understanding of the attitudes and skills needed for workplace success.
We continually focus on the importance of learning, of attendance and reliability, of honesty and integrity, of community involvement, and of attitude and effort. Our employees have taken advantage of all opportunities to speak with the students, to applaud their successes, and to encourage them.
To provide our employees with both an understanding of the issues, problems, and challenges that the principals, the teachers, and the students experience and an awareness of the successes that are achieved.
The regular committee meetings and activities of our Partnerships provide a forum for the school and bank representatives to communicate with each other. Our visits to the school for various activities provide our employees with a firsthand look at "a day in the life" of the Elementary or the Middle School. In addition, we maintain open communication throughout the year through E-mail, personal conversations, and informal visits. We have developed not only "partnership" relationships, but also friendships.
To provide the students with opportunities to visit the bank and observe its
operation.
Students are always welcome and encouraged to visit the bank. Activities such as Christmas caroling afford bank employees opportunities to host the students in a business environment.
